PHPUnit Testing for Laravel Applications in UAE
PHP testing framework — How we prove the business rules in a Laravel system are correct before you rely on them. SuiteOne ERP builds business software, ERP, POS and web systems from Ajman, UAE.
Testing the business rules, not just the code
A business system is a set of rules about money, stock and permissions. PHPUnit lets us write those rules down as tests: if the VAT calculation changes, if a discount is applied twice, if a user without permission reaches an approval screen — the test fails and we know before you do.
We use PHPUnit and Pest together. They cover the calculation and permission layers where an error is expensive, and they run in seconds, so they execute on every commit rather than sitting in a folder nobody opens.
What we actually test
- Money — VAT calculation, rounding on invoices, credit limits, and totals that must reconcile with your bank.
- Stock — movements, transfers between branches, negative stock prevention, and reorder points.
- Permissions — each role sees exactly what it should, and a cashier cannot approve their own discount.
- Workflows — order to invoice, quote to delivery note, and the approvals in between.
- Edge cases — zero, negative, maximum, and the values that break naive code.
What you get at handover
The test suite is part of the source code you receive. It runs from one command, it documents what the system is supposed to do in a way a human can read, and it means your next developer can change something safely six months from now.
That is the real return on this work: not fewer bugs this month, but a codebase where changing a business rule is a normal task rather than a risk.

Contact UsFrequently asked questions
Do you build with PHPUnit for UAE clients?
Yes. PHPUnit is part of our regular stack for UAE businesses, and the work is the same whether you are in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah or Ajman. The only difference is where we meet — everything else is remote by default.
Is PHPUnit the right choice for our project?
Often, but not automatically. PHPUnit is a good fit when your requirements are standard enough that it solves the problem out of the box. Where your business has unusual rules, we will say so and recommend an alternative — or a much smaller build.
Can you work with PHPUnit code someone else wrote?
Yes. We audit the existing codebase first, tell you honestly what is sound and what is not, and then agree a plan. This is common, and it is usually cheaper to improve working software than to replace it.
How much does a project using PHPUnit cost in the UAE?
It depends on scope rather than technology, so we quote after a scoping call against a written specification with a fixed price. You get the number before the work starts, not an hourly bill that grows as you go.
What happens to the PHPUnit code after delivery?
It is yours. We hand over the full source code and database with documentation, and you can maintain it yourself or bring in another developer. You are never locked into us.
